Resolved Question: How to post perfumes within Australia?
After reading up on a few articles written by ebay experts and such, I learnt that: 1) A perfume is a dangerous good 2) meaning it shouldn't be transported by air, as this is dangerous. 3) Therefore, I should contact my post office and sign some dangerous goods contracts to comply with the dangerous goods legislation, and to ensure it gets sent by road. However, when I went to the post office, the guy there told me something completely different: 1) Perfumes are more dangerous than batteries and cannot be sent by road :S 2) it can only be sent by air 3) Auspost does not handle these things, (he gave me the number for a courier service) Is this guy wrong? I'm selling perfume on ebay and I'm getting every sorts of info and don't know which one is reliable. I have a feeling the Auspost customer service guy was dopey. It's the first ever time i might use a courier service. How does it work? I basically want to buy an iphone 4 of a fella in London which i've never met and he says that we can do the transaction through a courier like FedEX and DHL, ino that them two couriers are worldwide but would he give the items to the courier and then i pay the couriers? Voting Question: Package missed by courier?
I sent a check from USA to India on 8/21. I paid to extra to deliver it in 2 business days. The expected delivery date is 8/24 (Indian time). Even today, (8/30/2010 - US Time 8:30 PST), the shipment is not delivered. I Called customer service.They are saying "sorry,we will update you if you call back after 24 hours!". The amount I sent is for down payment of a home I agreed to buy.Now, due to the delay in paying the down payment, the landlord is getting ready to sell it to some one else. With this, I will be losing the initial advance I paid to hold the home for me will be a loss for me, which is 300,000 Indian rupees. More than that, now I am worried about the check I sent. Recently a visa agent who also claimed to be a uk immigration officer sent me a cease order form which showed that my parcel which contains: copies of invitation letter from my employer, copies of confirmation letter from uk immigration, copies of direct flight ticket from the British airways, copy of traveller cheque of £2000 pound and copies of job offer was intercepted by British inland revenue commission. When i contacted the courier service agent mentioned on the cease order form(British courier service with this email:info@bcces.com), they told me that the documents are still below negotiation and they will write as soon as possible. After waiting for a long time, i wrote them again but no feedback.It was this British courier service that submitted the parcel for customs routing for inspection at Hearthrow internatinal airport(LN/HERTH) with order number of Br.NIFX874934 and case file of PKC/119283884 as stated on the cease order form.According to the cease order form, non-resident tax of £550 was demanded before the parcel will be released. I need a good samaritan to attend to me.

I sent a package from America with the address as 'hold for pickup in Catbalogan' since the recipient lives on the island of Zumarraga to which I was told is undeliverable. However, I was told this is a standard method of addressing shipping to someone in a remote area. I used United States Postal Service Priority (USPS). Unfortunatly, it seems the tracking number only works as long as it is in America. Therefore, I have no idea where it is, where/when it may end up in Catbalogan, and where in Catbalogan my pal can pick it up. I did put a phone number and e-mail on the package, but I have little faith that any courier would actively use them to notify me. Anyone in Philippines know either 1. where in Catbalogan might this end up 2. what couriers USPS work with in Philippines/Samar 3. Any actual experience with such? Any help much appreciated!

Open Question: Is there a law against courier companies for failing to deliver packages deliberately?
Hi, This might sound confusing but does there exist a law or regulation against courier companies that deliberately fail to deliver packages due to personal reasons? I am experiencing a lot of difficulty with packages sent to me via BlueDart courier to my location, Raia, Goa, India. BlueDart is a company which has a very good track record, but unfortunately the BlueDart, Verna, Goa office have staff who do not fulfill their responsibilities. Like for instance, since the last 4 months there has been a new delivery boy joined and every time there is a package sent to me by vendors (eBay), it is claimed that the consignee is unreachable or the address is incorrect etc. After confirming with vendors or finally receiving the package after a long follow-up period, every information seemed to be correct on every packages. It gets really frustrating as i really liked the service of blue dart and have been using the service for the last six years. I have bought up the issue numerous times with customer support but the problem still persists. Also i do not have a choice of service as the vendor chooses his possess courier service. I bought al quality replica LV bag from JR Handbags on 20/7/2010. It's been 6 weeks since my purchase but still no sign of the bag in the mail. When I ask the if they have indeed dispatched this item they send me a fake tracking number not recognized by the courier service they used. They are also unable to provide me with receipts from the courier service. Is it now just the buyer's loss if the bag never reaches them because they don't make use of tracking? I asked for a full refund as I have no proof that the bag was indeed dispatched but now they ignore every my e-mails. They do nothing as promised below their Customer guarantee on their website. I feel we should warn every future buyers about them! Or has anyone had a different experience and successful transaction with them?

A few years ago a Lt Col in the Army's Post Office Courier Service attempted to use his inside knowledge of security within post offices to rob one - only days after his retirement. He spent three days 'working' inside the building sussing out office routine before he attacked an assistant. Her screams brought help and the man was arrested. Voting Question: I am planning to rent a home but the owner wants me to make a deposit before sending the keys!!?
OK, so I have probably the worst dilemma ever. I have recently home a home for rent on craigslist and after finding much interest in it, I had decided to contact the provided e-mail. The owner had provided me a story of having to move to West Africa for a petroleum business and that it would be difficult to do business physically. He also had said his family does not want to sell the home because they want to keep it if they ever do run into financial issues. More so, he had provided a tiny application form via e-mail and asked for name, occupation, blah blah blah, everything but financial-related things like my credits, bank account, etc.- leading me to believe maybe it is not a scam. So we had agreed, and he had said that I should deposit $500 and he will send the keys and it should arrive 48 hours via courier service. Then after that, I pay first month's rent after receiving the keys. I'm VERY skeptical because the home seems to value SO much more than what has been offer. Secondly, there is no agent/middleman for what reason? If they possess such a nice home, they most certainly can hire a professional to deal with situations like these. I visited the provided address, and the pictures do match, but the home has been put on the market two months ago. Alright, so I know, it sounds SO SO SO unbelievable. Most likely, it's a scam. Is there anyway to verify, though? I've contacted the listed agent for the home but she is unavailable due to the weekend. What would you do if you were in my position? Are there any other ways to verify that this is a legit lease??? I meant to say came across a home for rent******

Voting Question: My laptop was damaged whilst in for warranty repair they wont pay out.. pls help?
Hi I'll try and clip the story short. I had a fault with my fingerprint reader, toshiba techs said it was hardware related after diagnostics and sent a courier to collect it below their pick up and return policy. 8 days after it arrived at toshiba (despite me calling twice in this time and told every was ok) they call me and tell me the fingerprint reader is not faulty and the screen is broke. I told them it was not broke when it left. They asked me if I checked the courier packaged the laptop well and I did that thinking I would be insured. They say that because I did check it and that the packaging looked fine on arrival that I am not covered. The t and c's only state that Toshiba are liable to pay insurance cost for pick up and return and nothing else relating to who packs the system, who checks it damages or anything even remotley related. Therefore how can they say i'm not covered. Their customer service reckons that an item in a box cannot be damaged without the box being damaged also. I'm pretty sure I could drop a sturdy box and not damage the box but break the contents (such as glass screens). They aslo dont believe it is possible the box may have been damaged and replaced during transit. Toshiba refuse to cover the cost and want to charge £500 for repair. If I dont want the screen repaired they want to charge me £78 to return unrepaired for courier costs. That is even though it was sent in for the finger print reader. They are probably using the clause that I am liable for costs if there is no hardware problem detected (but the tech guys told me it was harware related prior to booking it in). I feel on this part they are just trying to force me to have it repaired by them. Does anyone have any advice? Apparently I am not covered below sale of goods as I bought from laptops direct and the manufacturer is not liable below this act. I am also not covered below the supply of goods and services act as I haven't actually purchased the warranty. I have been told their is really sod every I can do but send a letter and wish for the best and if that fails then pay. PS. they say if I dont pay atleast the £78 they will dipose of my laptop which is 2 months old and worth £1500 Please help
